Burkina Faso 2016

May 29th, 2016 10am

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Time to load up the truck to head to the village.  At this point, I can’t say the name of the town we were staying in due to security concerns.  It’s not good to pin-point the exact location of Christian missionaries in-country since it’s a predominately Muslim country.  They constantly have to be on guard.

On our way out of town, we stopped for lunch.  Geoffrey ordered everyone schwarma from a local shop and it. was. DELICIOUS!  Oh my goodness!  It was so good!  I had never had schwarma before, but I can’t wait to have it again.  (Why is this recap post starting to sound like a foodie review?)  Since there were so many of us, we ended up piling into 3 different vehicles.  A bit cramped, but a great way to get close with your teammates.

Along the way, we got to see the African countryside and all of God’s creation.  And before you ask, no, we didn’t see any elephants or lions or any other animal you would associate with Africa.  As Americans, we have this idea that Africa is nothing but animals and desert.  Granted, you will find those things there, but they’re not around every corner.

Once we arrived our town after our final leg of travel, we were treated to a wonderful view at the end of our journey.

It’s at this point that I started getting the rest of the team involved in creating daily recap videos. I had the idea while we were getting ready to go to bed at the Mission House (once again, I must point out that I was probably delirious by this point) that since we were going to be in country for 10 days and we had 10 members on the team, each team member would record a daily update called the Missionary Minute. So, here’s Day 2.

All in all, it was a great day and we found it hard to sleep that night. Not because we were uncomfortable, but because the next day was Well Day!
