Educational Technology Podcast
This week’s assignment in my Educational Media class is to create a podcast. My understanding of the assignment is basically to get us to learn how to use audio recording and editing tools. This has been a fun assignment because Audacity was the recommended tool for the audio recording and editing. Great thing about that is that I use Audacity all the time. Whether it’s editing our lessons at church to post them to the website, or recording and editing audio for training content I create for work, I felt pretty comfortable using the tool.
The other point of the lesson is to expose us to and utilize audio hosting tools like Soundcloud. I’ve used Soundcloud in the past primarily to consume content, but not as a tool to produce and distribute content. Very easy service to use and as you can see below, easy to embed on a site.
My podcast was about educational technology platforms. There are several out there, but I just focused on 3: MOOCs, Skill-Builder Websites, and Khan Academy. Check it out below…

Again, it was a fun little assignment. I had fun including the music and the clip from Napoleon Dynamite. My favorite part was finding music for the outro. It’s from the same piece as the intro, and had that built in build and drop. And I knew I wanted to have a little tagline at the end of my podcast. Got lucky that the tagline worked well with the drop. I did extend the drop by about .6 seconds so it fit well with the tagline.
Fun assignment!
